The Corona Morphosis

Oh, Twenty-Twenty

The terrifying year!

The year of the rise-

Of Corona fear!

People lost their jobs,

Kids missed school;

2020 was the time

When Corona Virus ruled!

Everyone blamed China

For having created this virus,

Everyone was horrified!

Suspicion was aroused inside us.

The country received hatred

For the deeds it had done

PRC products were banned-

Karma and China had fun!

Lockdowns had started,

And seemed to never end!

Because why masks were important-

No one was willing to comprehend!

People fought for toilet paper,

Everyone stocked up on ration,

Fighting for commodities

Was very much in fashion!

Work from home started

Employees were overburdened with work

Jobs were taken from many,

And not just those who tried to avoid and shirk.

People picked up new hobbies,

And discovered new interests,

They bonded with their families-

Their beloved dearest.

Binge-watching trended,

People were stuck to their screens,

Netflix made millions

With the shows that people streamed.

Exams got cancelled,

Children were overjoyed!

They weren’t forced to study,

Hence, their books were then destroyed.

Kids were elated-

And according to them,

“Covid vacation” was a time to be well-wasted.

Social Media was overused,

By people of all ages,

They expressed their thoughts,

About being trapped in their cages!

The media created a hype-

Covid was all over the news,

It was spreading too rapidly,

“Population” was the excuse.

At first, families enjoyed-

This prolonged vacation!

Then, they got sick of distancing-

And failed to resist their temptations!

Socializing gradually started,

People secretly started meeting their friends-

Being ‘mentally sane’ was important!

Happiness was what they lent -

To make each other feel content.

Tired of the monotony,

People had started to move around,

Travelling to beautiful destinations-

Moving between the clouds.

These voyages caused a rise in the numbers-

The cases were now at peak.

While certain organisations tried to distract the people,

Wow, their technique!

Economies crashed badly,

Covid had an adverse impact!

On the whole globe,

‘Cause no nation remained unattacked!

Then came twenty-twenty-one,

The year of sunshine and hope

But when the second wave hit,

All the optimism became a joke.

This year was different,

It was full of ups and downs,

But thanks to the same virus,

What it did was make most people frown!

No one could figure out,

what the new normal was,

For it kept changing itself,

Every now and then!

Covid came and went,

Many lessons it taught us all,

Altered certain people’s definition of what life actually is!

Within us, Corona times will always live!

All of us are still

In the process of understanding

What just happened?

Where we are headed, and where we are landing..
